Product Overview
Methanol — also called methyl alcohol, wood alcohol or wood spirits — is the simplest saturated monohydric alcohol and a high-purity base chemical raw material. Produced by rectification, it holds a stable purity of ≥99.5% with low water, aldehyde and impurity levels, and is infinitely miscible with water, alcohols, ethers and most other organic solvents. Its fast evaporation rate and high reactivity make it suitable for a wide range of organic synthesis, extraction and cleaning processes.
Supplied as a key regulated hazardous chemical, methanol is highly flammable and carries acute oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity. Handling, storage and transport must follow hazardous-chemical safety rules: sealed containers, a cool ventilated dedicated warehouse, explosion-proof lighting and ventilation, spark-free tools, and segregation from oxidisers, acids and alkali metals.
Key Advantages
High, Consistent Purity Under Control
Multi-stage rectification keeps methanol content at ≥99.5% with tight limits on water, aldehydes and impurities. Uniform batch specifications prevent drift in your synthesis or cleaning formulation and keep finished-product quality stable.
Broad Polar Solvency
A strongly polar, hydrophilic solvent that dissolves many resins, dyes, pharmaceutical intermediates and inorganic salts. It covers extraction, cleaning and synthesis, and is easy to distil and recover, reducing solvent consumption cost.
Direct Source Supply, Flexible Delivery
Own warehouse stock with no layers of middlemen and an obvious price advantage. Drums, IBC totes and ISO tank containers are all available, with LCL and FCL shipping and reliable lead times.
Full Dangerous Goods Export Documentation
Complete MSDS, COA, dangerous goods packaging certificate and commodity inspection documents, backed by a dedicated hazardous-cargo logistics team that supports domestic warehousing and export customs clearance end to end.
Applications
Methanol serves four core industrial areas: base chemical synthesis, industrial cleaning and coating solvents, new-energy fuel, and pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine chemical production.
- Base chemical synthesis — feedstock for formaldehyde, acetic acid, MTBE, dimethyl ether, dimethyl carbonate and olefins, and for wood-panel adhesives, plastics, chemical fibres and gasoline additives. A core raw material for petrochemical plants and panel manufacturers.
- Industrial cleaning and coating solvents — a dilution solvent for coatings, inks and adhesives, and a degreasing and precision cleaning medium for hardware parts, PCB boards, photovoltaic wafers and lithium-battery materials. Also a general extraction and dye-dissolving solvent for laboratories.
- Green new-energy fuel — blended into vehicle and marine methanol fuel, low-sulphur marine fuel and industrial boiler fuel, and a key feedstock for methanol reforming to hydrogen and for biodiesel synthesis.
- Pharmaceutical, agrochemical, fragrance and fine chemicals — used in the synthesis of antibiotic and vitamin APIs and the extraction of natural plant actives, in the production of insecticides and fungicides, and as a reaction medium and dilution carrier for fragrances and reactive dyes.

| Storage | Store in a cool, well-ventilated dedicated hazardous goods warehouse away from ignition sources and heat. Keep the warehouse temperature below 37 °C and containers sealed. Store separately from oxidisers, acids and alkali metals — never mix-store. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation are required, spark-producing equipment and tools are prohibited, and spill response equipment and suitable containment material must be kept on site. |
