Product Overview
Cyclohexanone is a bulk raw material at the centre of the petrochemical chain and one of the highest-solvency industrial ketones. More than 70% of industry consumption goes into synthesising nylon 6 and nylon 66 monomers, with the balance used as a speciality high-boiling solvent across coatings and fine chemicals. As fibre and automotive coating capacity keeps expanding, this steady requirement stays firmly in place.
The product is made by continuous cyclohexane oxidation with multi-stage distillation for deep purification. Purity holds at ≥99.5% with strict control of water, light and heavy ends and trace impurities, giving low colour and few side reactions, so polymerisation produces far less waste and suits the continuous lines of large fibre plants. It is a colourless to pale yellow oily transparent liquid with the characteristic ketone odour, a moderate boiling point and outstanding dissolving power for epoxy, polyurethane, nitrocellulose, synthetic resins, rubber and organic pigments. It evaporates gently and can be used alone as the main solvent or blended with low-boiling esters and hydrocarbons in mixed let-down systems. Against light solvents such as ethyl acetate and acetone its higher boiling point slows evaporation, extending film levelling time in baking processes and preventing pinholes and craters, while its reactivity also allows it to take part in oximation and oxidation reactions — one material covering both intermediate and solvent duty.

- Nylon fibre synthesis (core use) — the key intermediate for caprolactam (nylon 6) and adipic acid (nylon 66), feeding large-scale production of textile fibre, automotive engineering plastics, tyre cord and injection-moulded nylon parts.
- High-end industrial baking coatings — a dedicated high-boiling co-solvent for automotive enamels, coil steel coatings, epoxy flooring and insulating baking varnishes that improves resin solubility and raises film flexibility and weather resistance.
- Printing and screen inks — a let-down solvent for metal-decorating, plastic screen and gravure slow-drying inks that stabilises pigment dispersion and runs at high speed without blocking the screen or stringing, with lasting gloss.
- Polyurethane and speciality adhesives — a diluent carrier for leather adhesives, film laminating adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives and sealants that adjusts open time and cures without blushing for higher bond strength.
