Product Overview
White Mineral Oil No. 5 is refined from crude oil fractions by deep hydrogenation, dearomatisation, decolourisation and dewaxing, which removes polycyclic aromatics, sulphur and unsaturated impurities. The finished oil is clear and odourless, chemically inert and resistant to oxidation and yellowing, with a light, balanced viscosity and excellent spreadability and lubricity. Volatility at ambient temperature is very low and there is no irritating odour, which suits demanding duties involving human contact, food-related equipment and precision moulding.
Demand from personal care and skincare, elastomeric rubber and plastics and fibre manufacturing is steady year round, while new-energy plastics and agricultural formulation capacity keep adding incremental volume. Compared with medium and heavy white oils, this grade flows better and fits a wider range of light lubrication and carrier duties. It is not classified as a dangerous good, so warehousing and sea or road transport need no hazardous goods permits and logistics costs are lower. Only strong oxidisers need to be avoided; it stores long term in an ordinary warehouse and recycling channels for used oil are well established.
Key Advantages
One Material, Many Functions: Lubricant, Release Agent, Moisturiser and Carrier
Its light, balanced viscosity covers mould release, equipment lubrication, skin moisturising and agrochemical dispersion, so one purchase item serves several production lines and inventory stays simple.
Deeply Refined, Low Aromatics, Export-Compliant
Multiple hydrogenation steps leave very low polycyclic aromatic content, no odour and no tendency to oxidise or yellow, so personal care and food-related products pass overseas testing with ease.
Chemically Inert, Long Shelf Life for Finished Products
It does not react with resins, fragrance compounds or agrochemical technical material, so formulations stay homogeneous and colour-stable over time and product losses are lower.
Non-Hazardous Cargo, Lower Logistics and Customs Costs
It is not a hazardous chemical, so no dangerous goods packaging or specialised haulage is required; FCL and LCL sea freight procedures are simpler and both documentation and freight costs drop significantly.
Applications
White Mineral Oil No. 5 serves six distinct industrial sectors: personal care and cosmetics, rubber and plastics moulding, textiles and fibres, precision equipment lubrication, agrochemical emulsifiable concentrate carriers, and food machinery protection.
- Personal care and cosmetics — a base for body lotions, cleansing oils, hair creams and lipsticks with a light moisturising, smooth skin feel and low irritation.
- Rubber and plastics processing — mould release for PVC, TPE and elastomeric plastic extrusion and lubrication for rubber vulcanisation, raising the surface gloss of the finished part.
- Textiles and fibre production — a spin finish for synthetic fibres and lubricant for high-speed sewing machines that eliminates static and reduces yarn breakage.
- Precision instrument lubrication — a long-acting protective oil for watches, optical equipment and small hardware parts that resists thickening and seizure at low temperature.
