Product Overview

Industrial heptane is produced from petroleum cracking fractions by hydrodearomatisation and multi-stage precision distillation, which fully removes benzene, sulphur and aromatic impurities and yields a narrow, stable distillation range with no risk of residual aromatic contamination. It is a non-polar pure alkane with strong solvency for oils, rubber and resins and a fast evaporation rate, leaving no water marks or ionic residue after cleaning. Its high chemical inertness means it takes no part in most side reactions, which suits pharmaceutical and precision electronics processes that demand strict solvent purity.

As benzene-restriction policies tighten worldwide and the cost of managing aromatic solvents rises sharply, demand for benzene-free heptane as a green replacement keeps expanding. New-energy electronics, active pharmaceutical ingredients and reclaimed rubber are the three downstream sectors releasing capacity steadily, keeping the long-term demand base firm.

Key Advantages

Zero Aromatics, Low Sulphur, a Compliant Alternative to Toluene and Xylene

Free of benzene-ring impurities, it satisfies workshop VOC and occupational health controls, avoids costly exhaust retrofits and carries no risk of failing an aromatics check on export.

Very Fast Evaporation, Residue-Free Precision Cleaning

Parts air-dry quickly with no oil film or water marks, and PCB, optical plastics and precision hardware substrates are not corroded.

High Chemical Inertness, No Interference with Synthesis or Purification

It is itself resistant to side reactions, so pharmaceutical extraction and chromatography runs do not contaminate the target product and specifications are easier to meet.

Strong Solvency for Oils and Rubber, Ideal for Reclaimed Rubber

It rapidly dissolves surface oil and aged resin on scrap rubber, giving high degreasing efficiency before grinding without damaging the rubber molecular structure.

Applications

n-Heptane serves six distinct industrial sectors: precision electronics cleaning, pharmaceutical API extraction, reclaimed rubber processing, eco-friendly adhesives, gas chromatography reference reagents and specialty industrial coatings.

  • Precision electronics cleaning — removes stamping oil and mould release agent from PCB assemblies, optical lenses, lithium battery components and pressed hardware with high cleanliness and no ionic residue.
  • Pharmaceutical and botanical extraction — a low-temperature extraction solvent for antibiotics, vitamins and natural essential oils that gently isolates active ingredients with no aromatic residue.
  • Reclaimed rubber and footwear — fast degreasing of surface oil and aged resin on scrap rubber and sole materials, improving the processing and moulding performance of the reclaimed compound.
  • Laboratory gas chromatography — a mobile phase and octane-number reference medium for fuels, giving stable and accurate analytical data.
