Product Overview
Anhydrous ethanol — also called anhydrous alcohol or ethyl alcohol — is a low-toxicity, low-carbon saturated monohydric alcohol and a high-purity general-purpose chemical. Produced by rectification and dehydration, it holds a stable purity of ≥99.5% with very low water, fusel alcohol and heavy metal content. It is infinitely miscible with water, methanol, ethers, esters and most other organic solvents, evaporates at a moderate, even rate, and combines balanced solvency with good bactericidal performance and organic reactivity for extraction, dilution, synthesis and cleaning.
It is classified as a Class 3 flammable liquid, with flammability as its only significant hazard — unlike methanol it carries no severe neurotoxic or optic-nerve toxicity — so handling, storage and transport follow standard flammable-solvent practice: sealed containers, cool ventilated storage, and segregation from oxidisers, acids, alkali metals and amines.
Key Advantages
High, Consistent Purity Under Control
Multi-stage rectification and dehydration keep ethanol content at ≥99.5% with tight limits on water, methanol, aldehydes and heavy metals. Uniform batch specifications mean no impurity precipitation or yellowing, meeting the demanding standards of pharmaceutical, personal care and electronics production.
Wide Solubility Fit
A mildly polar, balanced solvent that is mutually soluble with water, alcohols, esters, ketones and aromatics. Its even evaporation rate keeps diluted coatings, inks and fragrances free from blushing, pinholes and sagging, and leaves no residue after parts cleaning — suitable for the full range of industrial formulations.
Direct Source Supply, Flexible Delivery
Own hazardous-goods warehouse stock with no layers of middlemen and an obvious price advantage. Drums, IBC totes and ISO tank containers are all available, with LCL and FCL shipping, negotiable discounts on long-term orders and reliable lead times.
Full Dangerous Goods Export Documentation
Complete MSDS, COA, dangerous goods packaging certificate and commodity inspection documents, backed by a dedicated hazardous-cargo logistics team that supports domestic warehousing and export customs clearance to Southeast Asia end to end.
Applications
Anhydrous ethanol is used across four core industrial areas: pharmaceutical disinfection and personal care, coatings, inks and adhesives, electronics precision cleaning, and fine chemicals and renewable fuel.
- Pharmaceutical disinfection and personal care — blended into 75% medical-grade disinfectant alcohol and used for sterilising and cleaning medical devices. Also serves as an extraction solvent for traditional medicine extracts and antibiotic APIs, an excipient for medicinal tinctures, and the core solvent in perfumes and skin and hair care cosmetics.
- Coatings, inks and industrial adhesives — a dilution solvent for wood lacquers and anti-corrosion metal coatings and for flexographic and gravure inks, and a dilution carrier for water-based laminating adhesives, shoe adhesives and hot-melt adhesives, adjusting evaporation rate to improve film and print-layer smoothness.
- Electronics precision cleaning — degreasing and de-oiling of PCB boards, optical lenses, photovoltaic wafers and chip packages. It flashes off quickly leaving no water marks and does not corrode precision components; also a general extraction reagent for chromatography and biochemical analysis in the laboratory.
- Fine chemical synthesis and green fuel — used in esterification reactions to produce ethyl acetate and other ester intermediates, in ethanol-blended gasoline and clean industrial heating fuel, and as a feedstock for biodiesel synthesis.
Technical Specifications

| Molecular Formula | C2H5OH |
| CAS No. | 64-17-5 |
| EINECS No. | 200-578-6 |
| Relative Density (water = 1) | 0.79 (at 20 °C) |
| Flash Point | 13–17 °C |
| Boiling Point | 78.3 °C |
| Hazard Classification | Class 3 flammable liquid |
| Stability | Good chemical stability at ambient temperature; does not readily deteriorate. Avoid strong oxidisers; best stability when stored sealed in a cool place |
| Solubility | Miscible with water, ether, chloroform, glycerol, methanol and most organic solvents |
| Storage | Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse away from ignition sources and heat. Keep the warehouse temperature below 37 °C and containers sealed. Store separately from oxidisers, acids, alkali metals and amines — never mix-store. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation are required, spark-producing equipment and tools are prohibited, and spill response equipment and suitable containment material must be kept on site. |
